You will cycle in the heart of Terre di Siena region, through Chianti, Crete Senesi and Val d'Orcia. It’s a bike trip into the essence of the legendary Tuscan landscape, characterized by challenging and technical segments that make this route a great opportunity to practice cycling. The route alternates paved and gravel roads, and will be divided in 4 stages long between 50 and 60 km, starting from the beautiful city of Siena.
During the bike ride we'll stop to visit medieval villages, castles and taste local food and wines, like Chianti Classico and Brunello di Montalcino.
Day 1: Thursday - Benvenuti in Toscana
Individual arrival at Siena, meet our staff at 10.00 am in front of the Anima Toscana travel agency located in Viale Vittorio Emanuele II, 67.
Briefing, delivery of the maps and start of the first stage direction Montalcino.
VAL D’ARBIA AND MONTALCINO: 56 Km – Elevation gain: 1150 Meters
Just outside the city of Siena we will reach a typical segment of the Eroica route, located between “Colle Malamerenda” and Radi. | We’ll cycle surrounded by the gentle hills of Siena, studded with farmhouses and medieval villages, crossing the Via Francigena itinerary. The village of Murlo will be the backdrop to the easiest segment of the whole permanent route. | Climbing Castiglion del Bosco, one of the most challenging gravel segments of L’Eroica permanent route, we will reach the beautiful and panoramic lands of Brunello di Montalcino. | Just before the final arrival in Montalcino, we’ll visit a winery and taste the Brunello di Montalcino world famous wine. | Montalcino, also famous for olive oil and honey, it’s a nice village where we suggest to visit before dinner.

Day 2: Friday - The Val d'Orcia and Crete Senesi
64 Km – Elevation gain: 980 Meters
The descent from Montalcino will be a dive surrounded by the Brunello vineyards, then we’ll take again the Via Francigena itinerary up to Torrenieri. | After Cosona we’ll cycle one of the most beautiful gravel road direction Lucignano d’Asso, surrounded by the landscapes of Val d’Orcia region. | We’ll then reach Buonconvento, nice medieval village and town of the NOVA Eroica event. | The last part of the stage is characterized by the lunar landscape of the Crete Senesi region. We’ll reach Asciano through the panoramic road that lead to the Abbey of Monte Oliveto and the small village of Chiusure.

Day 3: Saturday - Monte Sante Marie and Chianti
53 Km – Elevation gain: 1200 Meters
The first part of the stage will be already challenging, riding the gravel segment of Monte Sante Marie, very famous steep road and part of the Classic Strade Bianche pro-race.| We’ll reach Torre a Castello and Castelnuovo Berardenga, the gate to the Chianti region, one of the most famous wine region in Tuscany. | The road to Radda in Chianti will be a sequence of vineyards and woods, passing through pretty villages and wineries. | During the ride we’ll stop to visit a winery, discover the secret of Chianti Classico wine making and taste 3 wines, with light lunch included. | We’ll reach Radda in Chianti at the end of the stage, where we suggest to take a walk in the old town center before dinner.

Day 4: Sunday - Castello di Brolio and Siena
46 Km – Elevation gain: 780 Meters
We’ll leave Radda in Chianti and ride the beautiful gravel segment of San Donato in Perano, direction the small village of Vertine. | The following steep descent will take us to Gaiole in Chianti, town where L’Eroica was born on 1997. We’ll stop in the town center and breathe the Eroica athmosphere. | A long and easy climb will take us to the Castle of Brolio, owned by the Ricasoli family since 1141. The breath-taking panorama below the walls, over the vineyards, represents one of the most wonderful parts of the permanent route. | We’ll be back to see the skyline of Siena near San Giovanni a Cerreto and reach the city center cycling through some steep up and down roads. We’ll take a last photo in Piazza del Campo and back to the Anima Toscana agency.
